Roll joins the fight by Diegichigo Roll joins the fight by Diegichigo
Now that we have a game with Megaman and Protoman being playable... another one with Megaman and Bass, and another one with all three of them.. It's time for another character to hit the spotlight.

ROLL!

TL;DR

-Attacks from up close, with her broom.
-Knocked back harder (she's light)
-Takes more damage (has no helmet)
-Dash does not go under small gaps.
+Broom attack is as strong as a charged Buster Canon.
+2 broom swipes per second.
+Uses Tango Coil, and Tango Jet to jump high and fly.
+Dash attacks enemies on ground.

Megaman, and all related characters are (c) Capcom

Note: Downgrading TvC's art of Roll into 8-bit was a BITCH. X_x

Nice fantasy. I love Rockman and Forte more. Roll is an okay character but nice addition to the team, I would say. :)

What does the TL;DR stand for?

"Too Long Didn't Read"

Basically, I made a summarized version of a long, detailed explanation of how they work. :P Thanks for the suggestion btw, you can see I changed some of them to "+"

Word of advice:

For the statuses of Roll in the Artist's Comments, you should put the following symbols in there for her advantages and disadvantages:

+ (Plus Sign) = Advantage
- (Minus Sign) = Disadvantage

That would be worth it in the long run. Any opinions?

I would be all over Mega Man 11 if she was in it. I love Roll she's my second best Tatsunoko vs. Capcom character.

I love Roll too! Next to the famous Blue Bomber, She's my favorite Mega Man character! And what also rocks about Roll is that she is treated with a lot more respect than Luigi from the Mario Series, because there do exist good games for Roll and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars was one of them!

For the beginning of the game, or during a certain part of the game, Roll should say "Mega Man, it's my turn to protect you!"

That would be awesome!

Also, Roll should be able to hold the highest amount of Energy Tanks, 1-ups, and/or Mega Tanks available to make up for the severe disadvantages. I don't want to see any gamers being frustrated about not being able to complete anything with Roll. It's only fair.

I don't think she will need Weapon tanks however because I believe the attacks that she will acquire from bosses won't need weapon energy at all, like Zero from Mega Man X4, X5, and X6 for example.

There should also be an exclusive shop item for Roll where she takes less damage and knockback from enemies and bosses and would change Roll's clothing to that of a Pink version of Mega Man with a broom and yellow ponytail, even if it's good for only one stage at a time.

It would also be nice if Roll could duck under enemy fire.

And for one of Roll's special acquired powers from a certain robot master, it should be a power where Roll could throw her broom like a boomerang and pick up items from within small gaps that would normally require Proto Man's sliding.

Oh, and Capcom should make Roll's hair yellow instead of orange. I mean, orange is like the wrong hair color. Yellow is the correct hair color. I don't know what Capcom was thinking. And is that lipstick I see on Roll? Why does Roll have lipstick in the 8-bit Mega Man games when she doesn't in her official art and in the other "Non-8 bit" games?

===================================================
Also, if they're going to make a Mega Man 11, they should make it 8-bit Mega Man gameplay and challenge at its best!

The levels, bosses, and challenges should be difficult enough to provide a nice challenge, but not enough to be unfair or frustrating.

They should also give different level and enemy layouts to each playable character's "Stories"! That will make the replay value a lot better.

For downloadable levels and bosses, they should have the Mega World Corps (Buster Rod G, Mega Water S, and Hyper Storm H) from Rockman Megaworld (Mega Man: The Wily Wars) for Sega Genesis or the Stardroids from Mega Man V on Nintendo Gameboy.

They should also make the Challenge and Ranking modes available to all playable characters instead of just Mega Man like in 9 and 10. That will add a lot of variety.

Wow, that's a lot of feedback. O.o

Let's see... I don't really have a story planned, but Wily's usual scheme is to blame the rampaging robots on someone else.

I guess he could kidnap another scientist's daughter, and make his robots fight Megaman. :P

On your critiques for the graphical details, I guess Capcom was trying to imitate the palette limitations from back then. I never really saw much use of the color yellow (check 8-bit Bass) And the "lipstick" was probably because Roll would've looked a little manly with a black mouth line. :P

Your idea's good, except I wouldn't like the intro to be too long, and making a recap of the previous chapter would only make it longer. XD (Megaman 10's intro was WAY TOO LONG X_x, and the ending didn't make up for it).

I rather have a short intro, but a long, sweet, ending. :)

I'd also love to see fused bosses from Megaman 9 & 10. For example, Pump-Splasher, Sheep-Hornet, Solar-Magma, Concrete-Commando (like Megaman 3 did with MM2 bosses).

And if anything, They should bring back the Doc Robots from Mega Man 3, or at least similar robots in function, and have them copy the Mega Man 10 robot master's abilities, whilst having 2 each in four revisited stages.

I still think it would be a good idea to have the game's intro start with an image of Roll hugging Mega Man, who would be apparently cured from the Roboenza virus, to make up for the bittersweet Mega Man 10 ending.

Ah totally agree with that! I was extremely disappointed with the MM10 ending, I mean what kind of un-epic treatment was that for megaman TEN!!?

Thanks for agreeing with my idea for the start of the intro!

Did you think, in the very start of the intro where an image of Roll smiling and hugging Mega Man is being shown, it would be a good idea to have Roll say:

"Thank you, Mega Man! You've saved me from the virus! You're my hero!"

And then to go to a pitch black screen that would say:

"Many Months have passed since then..."

I personally think it would be a nice idea for Capcom to do something like that for the very start of the Mega Man 11 intro, because Roll deserves a lot of respect. Heck, even a lot of fans like/love Roll!

I always wanted to see Roll playable in the main (and numbered) series of the Mega Man games! I love Roll! She's so cute! Next to the Blue Bomber, she's my favorite character in the Classic Mega Man series.

In fact, here is my idea of how the first part of the Mega Man 11 opening should be:

(Black Screen with the following white text appears on screen:)

In the year 20XX AD...

When we last saw Mega Man and Friends...

Auto: Oh, no! Dr. Wily's gone missing! Ooh! What's this?

(An image of a hospital bed with a pile of Roboenza virus cure capsules is shown)

(Cut to Dr. Light's Laboratory. Dr. Light, Roll, Beat, Rush, and Eddie are shown. Roll is sleeping in a bed while Dr. Light guards over her. Mega Man teleports in with a cure capsule at hand and Rush, Eddie, and Beat walk up to him. Auto comes running in from the left with a bag full of Roboenza virus cure capsules at hand. Mega Man walks up to Roll, still sleeping in bed and apparently having been affected with the Roboenza Virus. Mega Man gives Roll the medicine and in no time at all, Roll is cured from the Roboenza virus.)

(An image of Roll smiling and hugging Mega Man is then being shown)

Mega Man: Roll!

Roll: Thank you, Mega Man! You've saved me from the virus! You're my hero!

Many months have passed since then...

==================================================
Does anyone here have any thoughts on my first part of the Mega Man 11 intro idea? I thought of the first part of the opening because I was extremely disappointed with Mega Man 10's ending because Capcom never bothered to show or even explain if Roll would be able to make it out alive and well from the Roboenza Virus she was infested with.

I've always considered Roll from MPU to be the closest to Zero in terms of gameplay for an original series game, sans the double jump. An 8-bit version would be no different, me thinks.

Goddammit, they had better make Roll playable come next game.

And "MM: Powered Up" doesn't count, since that was just a remake of the first game. I'm talking about an entirely new game for her to be the hero in.

Powered up kinda feels like a new Megaman, I haven't played it, but there's a LOT of content in it. Though it does boil down to it being a remake as most remakes have a lot of new stuff aside from the regular gameplay. :P

Roll's broom should be metal instead of wood. More damaging that way.

Actually, Roll's been a playable. She's downloadable content, but you could play as her - in a number of costumes at that - along with Protomon in the PSP game Megaman Powered Up. She's terrible as a playable, though, her broom swing is fairly strong, but its range is limited, she has no dash or slide at all, and normal jumping power. Going slow and being careful will get her through most levels, but fighting bosses with her is a CHORE. >.>

Really? The more you know! :O Oh that's a relief, that she has been considered playable, I guess it's not completely out of the picture for Megaman 11.

(Those who don't want her aren't forced to buy her).

I wouldn't mind the extra challenge, even if they don't give her a slide (though that would make the game near-impossible).

Yep. XP Roll's playable debut allowed you - with the right downloads - to play as her in either her original or her Megaman 8 dress, as well as a number of costumes like a cat costume and a knight costume, with her broom being changed into other objects like a fish or a lance respectivly. XP And you're right, having no dash or slide makes things really difficult, although since it's a remake of Megaman 1, Megaman himself also has no slide when you play at first, although you can unlock a version of Megaman that has the slide. Protomon also had no slide move, and if he took a big enough hit, his shield would actually be knocked out of his hand, and could potentially fall down a hole, meaning then you had to play without until you either beat the level or died. Even the game's eight Robot Masters - the six that were originally in the game plus two new ones, Oil Man and Time Man - were playable, all you had to do was beat them using only the Mega Buster, no special weapons. Each had their own unique trick that let you reach places other characters couldn't to find bonus items, most of which were for use in the creation mode where you could actually build your own stages. Due to the PSP not exactly being that popular, both this and the remake game Megaman: Maverick Hunter X didn't fare so well, but I have both and love them. :D

I guess Bass in 8-bit became a reality, so Roll should be next. And stop there. (I was torn between having Roll or Bass playable in MM10).
